The Jillana School teaching pre-professionals ages 11-17 years, is directed by Jillana. The Balanchine Technique is stressed in all technique, pointe, variation and repertory classes. Modern, pilates and dance related studies are also in the curriculum. Excerpts and variations from Balanchine Ballets will be taught and some performed at the student performance. The Jillana School and Technique in Taos are two intensive summer programs dedicated to preserving the Balanchine Technique. Jillana is former principal with the New York City Ballet while under the direction of George Balanchine and authorized teacher of the Balanchine Technique and Balanchine Style. They are held in beautiful Taos Ski Valley, NM.
