Tapetes de Lana is a non-profit organization designed to promote cottage industry and rural lifestyles, while preserving Northern New Mexico's rich culture and heritage. Tapetes de Lana's talented weavers produce a variety of beautiful textiles. Tapetes de Lana has been relentless in our pursuit of funding to purchase equipment and materials and to pay our weavers. But the long-term goal of Tapetes de Lana is to be independent of outside funding, relying on the commitment of staff and weavers to maintain Tapetes de Lana organization. Tapetes de Lana currently has two studios serving our community and the tourists that visit our area (in Las Vegas and Mora). Through these studios Tapetes de Lana has begun to build a strong clientele and reputation. Tapetes de Lana is currently working with 30 individuals that have found the Tapetes de Lana organization to be the answer to their needs in our rural communities.
