The Taos Land Trust is a nonprofit land conservation organization founded in 1988 to help protect the rural agricultural character and extraordinary natural beauty of the Taos area. Taos Land Trust helps residents protect their family lands through conservation easements, partner with other organizations to secure major public land acquisitions, and work with local government on long-range land use planning. Taos Land Trust offers an informed neutral voice and information for landowners about planning and stewardship. Since 1988 Taos Land Trust has permanently protected more than 14,000 acres throughout northern New Mexico through voluntary conservation easements with 28 landowners and through the public acquisition of the Taos Valley Overlook and part of Ute Mountain near Costilla.
