Rivers & Birds - preserving New Mexico's natural and cultural heritage through conservation. Rivers & Birds believes that, for a healthy, peaceful future, we must all, children and adults alike, understand and strengthen our sense of self in relationship to the physical world around us. Using positive learning adventures, Rivers & Birds teach the connectedness of all systems: natural, living, and manmade. Rivers & Birds celebrate this diversity that is the key to life on Earth. In 1998, wildlife biologist, Roberta Salazar, established Rivers & Birds as a nonprofit educational organization. Today Rivers & Birds programs, conducted by a skilled staff of scientists, research biologists, and educators, are available throughout Northern New Mexico, and serve as examples to others. Rivers & Birds invites you to join. In the community: Rivers & Birds offer educational workshops, wildlife demonstration opportunities, community screenings of Rivers & Birds award-winning documentary Nuestras Acequias, and the annual Wild Film Festival (fall) and the Eco Film Series (spring). All of these activities are fun and exciting ways to learn about our environment.
