Taos Friends United is a grass roots organization that has recently formed to defeat a proposed Family Dollar store that is slated for construction in a beautiful pasture just north of the Overland Sheepskin Company located in El Prado, New Mexico.

Our cause is simple and straightforward:  We insist that the pristine pasture land that Family Dollar has chosen is not appropriate for the construction of a Family Dollar store.  Our organization is committed to the preservation of open space to insure less urban sprawl.   We are united citizens that are not opposed to responsible and well planned development.  We deeply care about the cultural, historical and environmental significance of the Taos Valley that may be preserved for generations to come.

Petition to oppose Family Dollar at 1405 N Highway 522, Taos, NM. In the interest of preserving open space and limiting urban sprawl, and in order to preserve the cultural, historical, and environmental integrity of our beautiful Taos Valley for generations to come, we, the undersigned residents of Taos County, oppose the building of a Family Dollar store to be located on the proposed site adjacent to the Overland Sheepskin Company in El Prado.
