When Barbara Nevins moved to Connecticut from her home in New Mexico she brought her love of Santa Fe cuisine with her as she opened Ridgefield's Southwest Cafe. She visits Taos, New Mexico, frequently, especially during the annual Hatch Chile Season (August - September). Barbara brings back to the Ridgefield, CT restaurant 500 lbs of hand chosen New Mexican Greens to be raised, peeled and then made into Daily Specials through January. The food at Southwest Café reflects the local cuisine in Northern New Mexico. The Southwest ambience of the cafe can be credited much to the two renowned artist's and personal friends of Barbara, R.C. Gorman and Dennis Haggerty, whose pictures and hand painted envelopes enhance the walls of the little cafe. Barbara recently built her dream home in Taos, NM, and her beautiful Casita is now available for private rentals.
