A woman by the name of Amizette ran a room and boarding house, for the miners and trappers in the area, this is now the Amizette Inn's lobby. You can still find mining shafts and tailings on any of the hiking trails in the area. Also, Amizettes sister community of Twining is just up the road, Twining is now known as Taos Ski Valley!
