Website
Vista Black & White (Susan Chandler & Gordon Lukesh) is committed to traditional photography. All of the photographs were taken with Leica cameras and lenses and produced in a wet darkroom. Many are also available toned in sepia.
Located in Taos, NM, they have been selling fine art photographs through traditional art galleries since 2001. They believe that a large part of the future of the art market is online. Photographers are not dependent on collectors visiting Taos and collectors are free to browse at their leisure with no pressure - and no extra gallery commission.
THE EQUIPMENT
Vista B&W exclusively uses Leica M6 rangefinder cameras with three different lenses; a 135mm, a 50mm, and a 21mm. Various Leica filters from dark red, to orange, to blue are also used in the field to enhance photographs. We use only the best films.
In the darkroom, Vista B&W uses a 35mm B&W enlarger by Beseler. Several types of paper are used: Forte, Ilford, Agfa, and recently the Russian paper, Slavich. Fiber paper is preferred for the depth it gives the prints. Vista has a full set of Ilford filters to enhance contrast in the final product.
