Lorrie Bortner was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. She holds an MFA in painting, MA in education and MSCI and BSCI in interdisciplinary studies. She has enjoyed painting since a child. orrie’s paintings are mixed media. Her works have been in exhibitions throughout the US. She also creates murals with youth. These can be seen primarily in Taos, New Mexico. Public art is very important to her. Another avenue of expression is colcha embroidery, a traditional art form of Northern New Mexico. She teaches this as an artist in the schools.
