Artist Statement
Two Worlds
Working for over thirty years, my art has evolved into different ways of viewing the world through oil painting and printmaking. They are opposite sides of a coin, conversations feeding one another. All are informed by nature, meditation and living in northern New Mexico.
• Abstract Oils
Slowly these internal images grew larger and more complex, demanding execution
in oil on canvas. Involving multiple layers of translucent paint, they are representations
of imagined, veiled worlds and are a comment on diverse paradigms and impermanency.
• Printmaking and Works on Paper
In 1999 I returned to printmaking, which had been my primary focus in university
and the early years in Taos. Abstracted images replaced the earlier
narrative landscapes. I developed monoprints, chine collé, solar etchings
and mixed media on canvas to express these condensed, inwardly- inspired views. Represented by Total Arts Gallery.
