In 2002, just after 9/11, Michael and his wife booked a flight to the South West. They came to Santa Fe and journeyed north to Taos. They decided it was time for a major life change and over the next year they decided to make the move to New Mexico which began the arduous task of relocating. It took three years to sell his properties in California , complete the transition and establishing a life in Taos.. Michael has been a graphic artist, printer, publisher, writer, TV producer, music promoter, social organizer and most importantly, an artist. He has worked in a variety of art mediums and processes. Because art glass is much more prevalent on the West Coast and through his involvement in that art community, he was exposed to a variety of art glass processes. Glass seemed to fit the criteria for being a medium he could work in with some technical knowledge so he began to explore the possibilities. Before making a major investment in a studio and equipment, Michael traveled to the Bullseye Glass Factory in Portland, OR to take some classes and research the medium. He went to the Bay Area to reconnect and get information from his artist colleagues. Back in Taos in the fall of 2005 he built his glass studio, ordered kilns, tools and a couple of cases of glass and started working. In 2008, Michael joined other glass artists to organize the Taos Art Glass Invitational. He is a Founding Director of TIGA, Taos Institute for Glass Arts, Inc.. He is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Glass Alliance - New Mexico.
