Six Directions Gallery
Six Directions offers the fine arts and crafts of many Native American tribes. We also represent several traditional Santeros, (carvers of Saints) who are part of the rich Hispanic tradition of this area. Six Directions has an important role in providing a diverse and rich selection of the arts and crafts indigenous to the Southwest and Native America. Both serious collectors and first time visitors are warmly welcomed to their gallery. Six Directions is located in the heart of old Taos, New Mexico on the historic plaza. Although Taos is a small village, it has been the meeting place of many cultures and a center of trade for hundreds of years. Taos Pueblo is home to the Tiwa Indians and is one of the oldest continuously inhabited villages in North America. It is famous for preserving its ancient architecture, and is a world heritage site. Many years ago it was a place where Apaches, Navajos, Utes, Comanches, Kiowas and other Pueblo people came to trade. When the Spanish came they too traded with the tribes, and later the French fur trappers joined the international trade.
