Cardona-Hine Gallery
Alvaro Cardona-Hine, from Costa Rica, has lived in the United States since 1939. Cardona-Hine is a self-taught artist practicing three disciplines: painting, writing and musical composition. Of necessity, he became his own teacher, inspired by all of the great artists, Eastern as well as Western. Barbara McCauley began painting and drawing in her teens and studied drawing for 2 years at UCLA, but pursued writing for the next 30 years, principally poetry, and has numerous publications in poetry, fiction, non-fiction and one Emmy Award-winning educational television series. Her work has a concentrated essence and feeling for place as opposed to an exactness of representation. In the brief time since she has returned to painting, her work is in collections all over the United States as well as abroad.
